Full Journal pdf2001-04-27 House Journal Page 1281 SJR 17 The following was read the second time: CS FOR SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 17(STA) Relating to requesting that President Bush renounce and reverse Clinton Administration anti-gun-ownership policies and reorient the United States Department of Justice towards policies that accurately reflect the intent of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution to grant individual Americans the right to keep and bear arms. with the: Journal Page STA RPT 7DP 1012 FN1: ZERO(S.STA) 1013 2001-04-27 House Journal Page 1282 Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Berkowitz: Page 2, line 1: Delete "dangerously" Page 2, line 7: Delete "intentionally" Page 2, line 8: Delete "dramatically" Representative Berkowitz moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. Representative Dyson objected. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 1 be adopted?" The roll was taken with the following result: CSSJR 17(STA) Second Reading Amendment No. 1 YEAS: 13 NAYS: 26 EXCUSED: 1 ABSENT: 0 Yeas: Berkowitz, Cissna, Coghill, Davies, Guess, Hudson, Joule, Kerttula, Kookesh, Meyer, Moses, Murkowski, Williams Nays: Bunde, Chenault, Crawford, Croft, Dyson, Fate, Foster, Green, Halcro, Harris, Hayes, James, Kapsner, Kohring, Kott, Lancaster, McGuire, Morgan, Mulder, Ogan, Porter, Rokeberg, Scalzi, Stevens, Whitaker, Wilson Excused: Masek And so, Amendment No. 1 was not adopted. Amendment No. 2 was offered by Representative Kerttula: 2001-04-27 House Journal Page 1283 Page 1, line 10, following "recognizes" through line 11: Delete all material. Insert "that "a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed;" and" Representative Kerttula moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 2 be adopted. Objection was heard. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 2 be adopted?" Representative James moved and asked unanimous consent that CSSJR 17(STA) be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading, and placed on final passage. Representative Kerttula objected. The Speaker stated that CSSJR 17(STA) will advance to third reading on the April 28, 2001, calendar.
